Angel Tree Quilts #52 & 53

No photo description available.

Working on my freeform swirls!  I don't mind funky and a bit imperfect.  These are getting a little more like the look I like!  :-)

Quilts pieced by my stitching friends for Angel Tree children.

  1. Oh, fun. Those are looking good! I think on the longarm I did more feathers than any other pattern, but I see some occasionally which I think I'd do more of now. Things have changed a lot in 15 years. Another favorite of mine was a nesting paisley shape. It can look great, or it can look terrible, depending on how you make it, like anything else. APQS video tutorials have some interesting suggestions.

    1. I've never stitched one feather! Some day I may try one but so far I've skated by them.
My Millennium is a little stiff on the perfectly round curves freehand. I've asked around & that seems to be the consensus. I did pick up the hint to keep the ruler base on when free stitching to provide a little drag. That seems to help because there isn't a way to slow down the machine. And then there's practice. :-)

I don't want the quilts to look machine made. Anyone can buy a machine made looking quilt. I still want them to look like a person made them. So little swirls this way and that appeal to me but not really wonky unless that is the look I intend then I'll really do them all wonky.
