Mistletoe Market in Midtown Houston

The Mistletoe Market started Friday night. Just about the time everyone got their booths set up, it got very windy and cold.  I was thankful for all the handknit clothes my mom has knit for me through the years.  :-)

This cute young lady bought the vintage apron right off my mannequin!  So fun!

Breakfast Delivery!

Gene loves to chat with everyone at the markets.  This artist remembered him from last year's market. They had a fine time sharing some conversation together.

The food trucks were excellent!  This is the best gumbo I've had and especially welcome on a chilly day.

Gene built new displays for me.  I designed them from repurposed doors & shutters I bought at ReStore, the Habitat for Humanity store.  This is their 1st market and I am so pleased with them!

I didn't believe the weather forecast so ended up layering everything I could find to stay warm.  This is what 2 sweaters and a jean jacket look like on me!  :-)  The weekend weather flip flopped between rain and wind.  Certainly not ideal but overall, I was able to make some valuable connections with people who will help me along my journey.  For that opportunity I am grateful.

Out and About Houston: Downtown Market Square

Just a few of the art sculptures in a revitalized section of downtown Houston.  I was visiting an art market where a friend was displaying her work.  Did a little networking for the next time the market opens so I can be an artist there too.

Posing with Floyd Newsum's Planters and Stems which is a biographical story of downtown Houston.  Mr. Newsum is an art professor at the University of Houston.

Patrick Renner's "Trumpet Flower" is attached to one of the downtown buildings.  Below is the view looking upwards.  More of Renner's Funnel Tunnel sculptures can be viewed if you do an image search using "patrick renner funnel tunnel".  His work is very similar to patchwork, in my opinion.  He focuses on reclaiming abandoned materials; in the case of this sculpture about 1250 sq ft of reclaimed wood slats were available for the public to paint for the sculpture.  How cool is that?

Next adventure?   Art Markets fill November weekends!
